The beginning of a new year is a time when most people start to think about getting their health on track. New Year resolutions typically include being more physically active, eating healthier and many other things we may want to do to improve the quality of our lives.
During this time a lot of people think about joining a gym which is why gyms can be extremely crowded at the beginning of the year. But what if you could still tackle your health goals without the stress and cost of joining a gym?
I have the perfect solution…..Home-Based Workouts!
Working out at home has many benefits and is a great way to conquer your health goals while taking it easy on your pockets!
Benefits of working out a home include:
Saves Money $$$
Do I really need to say more? The number one benefit of working out at home is saving money! Gyms can be costly and on top of that if you want a trainer to help guide you it can be even more expensive. How many people do you know who have joined a gym and use the membership for a little while and stop? The result? Literally throwing away money every month!
Home-Based Workouts help to avoid this very issue. The money saved can be used in other areas of your life that may need it more. You can also use the money saved to buy healthier food and a few small pieces of equipment that can be used at home.
Convenience
Exercising at home is so convenient! You avoid the commute time to the gym, you don’t have to worry about checking your kids into childcare when you get there, and you can workout any time of the day that is best for you without having to leave the house. Not to mention you can workout, get sweaty and then use your own shower! I don’t know about you, but I am a bit of a germaphobe!
You may start the day thinking, “I am going to the gym after work!” But after being in traffic and picking up your kids, the very thought of going to the gym, dealing with the crowd and checking the kiddos into childcare can be a very daunting task. That’s if your gym even offers childcare services!
Working out at home cuts out a lot of the inconvenience that can sometimes deter you from wanting to workout in the first place.
No Creepy Stares or Judging Eyes
This one is the worse. I know I am not the only one who has received a creepy stare when doing a squat or deadlift at the gym. It can literally feel violating and makes you uncomfortable. Not only that, you have the people who workout every day 24/7 that look at you in judgment when all you are trying to do is figure out how to work this damn weight machine…..LOL!
Between the creepy stares and judging eyes it can get overwhelming and frustrating resulting in not wanting to go back the gym thus wasting your time and money!
Minimal to No Equipment Needed
You can very well get a great workout at home with no equipment; strictly using your body weight. Even if you do choose to get a few items to use at home it will not break the bank, since you are already saving money from not paying a costly gym membership monthly.
I must mention that using your own equipment at home is always better than sitting in someone else’s butt sweat at the gym….yeah there’s that germaphobe coming out again! I mean most gyms provide wipes but everyone doesn’t use them, so it can be a hassle to wipe off every single machine before you use it.
If you do choose to get a few items to use at home, the following are great choices that won’t cost too much:
· Stability Ball
· Resistance Bands
· Dumbbells
· Kettlebells
· Mat
· Jump Rope
· Aerobic Platform Stepper
